BAGHDAD, Feb 6 (PRIME) -- Iraq is considering ways to pay debts to Lukoil and other Russian oil and gas companies operating in Iraq, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said during a press conference on Monday.
“We see the positive role of Russian oil companies, in terms of investment, as well as activities in the oil and gas sector in Iraq,” he said.
“I would like to mention Lukoil, Gazprom and some others, to which the Iraqi government remains in debt, and we are considering all possible ways to find a solution to the problem of outstanding debts to these companies.”
He also said that Iraq and Russia agreed to hold another meeting of an intergovernmental commission, where the parties will discuss the issue in detail.
